I want to show you something true and beautiful in my life.
Operation Hejira has given me the chance to winnow down what I carry with me. The objects that remain are totems infused with meaning, and I’d love to share their stories with you.
The story
A few years ago, I handknit three of these sleep masks from velvety Touch Me yarn with Bernat Boa around the edges. One I gave to my mother to bring on our trip to China when Shawn and I adopted our daughter Lia. Another I gave to my friend Antonia for her house-warming party (Antonia is a fantastic editor if you’re looking for one!). The last sleep mask I kept for myself.
The beauty
What’s not to love about a sleep mask that makes you look like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s? The navy yarn is just as soft as it looks, and feels sumptuous against my skin. The feathery edging gives it finish and flair.
This sleep mask does its job too. The stitches are dense and keep the light out very effectively ~ I’ve worn it on airplanes and in brightly lit rooms and slept soundly (although sleeping is one of my super-powers, so your mileage may vary.)
The truth
Shawn is a night owl, especially these days, since he’s keeping an eye on the stock exchanges back in North America. I do a good impersonation of an early bird. That means there are many evenings when I’m ready to turn the lights out and he’s still reading or playing some driving game on his iPad.
Solution: sleep mask.
Because sometimes you need to change your circumstances and sometimes you need to adapt to them. Knowing which to do when is very important, in marriage and in life.
Today! My Live Conversation with Andrea Lewicki
Visit the Grand Opening Event page at 12:30 am EDT / 9:30 am PDT.
Andrea Lewicki is Chief Question Officer at the Lewicki Agency, and she is smitten by curiosity, enraptured by the space for freedom that opens when you wonder instead of judging.
So when Andrea invited me to be a guest at her Grand Opening, I jumped at the chance. Curiosity is one of my touchstones, as an artist and a coach, and my fascination to know more has expanded every area of my life, in challenging and wonderful ways.
I believe that curiosity is the way we start to cure broken truths and toxic beauty.
For an hour, Andrea and I will talk about curiosity and the role it plays in a creative life. There will also be a Q&A period, so if you’ve got a burning question for me, bring it along.
I’d love for you to tune in to our live online conversation on Friday, October 28 at 12:30 pm EDT / 9:30 am PDT.
There’s no sign-up required to watch, just hop onto the Grand Opening Event page (although if you do subscribe to her Special Agents list, you’ll qualify for the giveaways happening ~ including mine!)
Hope to see you then!
