I want to show you something true and beautiful in my life.
The story
Today was supposed to be Launch Day for the Field Guide to Truth and Beauty.
All of the audio is recorded and edited. The sales page is ready to go. I have testimonials by women who loved the retreat process.
But the guide book that anchors the whole kit has been held hostage in New Jersey by a freakish snow/ice storm and power outage. My designer, Michelle Farinella, went to heroic lengths to keep working, but there’s only so much she could do without electricity.
Of course, I care more about Michelle’s well-being (and that of others affected by the storm) than I do about my launch schedule. My tiny piece of this story feels insignificant next to the larger story that people in New Jersey actually experienced. But I can’t tell any story other than my own, small as it may be.
No doubt Michelle will find her own truth and beauty in what happened this weekend. I hope we get to have a long talk about how it spoke to her (talks with Michelle are inevitably long and juicy.)
The beauty
I moved to Malaysia to escape winter and it’s still impacting me ~ a jovial wink from the universe.
Michelle went out into the elements, searching for a cell phone signal, so she could email me the proposed cover and book design. Dedication personified.
If I had designed the ebook myself, I would be launching on time. I would have kept control, but lost out on my collaboration with Michelle and the amazing level of quality she brings to her designs.
I was so excited when I started getting email from Michelle late last night. I stayed up way past my bedtime, poring over her proposals and sending my notes. Now I have a gratified sense of fatigue that I will address with a nap later on.
The truth
